REASONS WHY INEC WILL HIRE 1M AD-HOC IN 2019 ELECTIONS
Against the execution of the 2019 general election, about one million ad-hoc staff would be hired to conduct the elections, Prof. Mahmud Yakub, the Independent National Electoral Commission, said yesterday.
The Federal Government is planning to hire 300,000 more ad-hoc staff than it hired during the 2015 elections, when only 700,000 staffs where deployed.
Prof. Yakub divulged this during discussion moment with Senate Committee on Election matter, assuring of the usage of electronic device during the election, as the commission is geared towards equipping the staff with adequate knowledge to function efficiently.
He INEC boss also said smart card readers would also be efficiently used.
Yakub said, “We plan to deploy more ad-hoc staff this time to be involved in th elections, as the need arose to engage enough manpower for the exercise, both to handle general issues and peculiar needs across the country at different polling units.”
