INEC TALKS ABOUT CARD READERS,SECURITY


The Independent National Electoral Commission has reiterated its committment to conduct efficient poll in the 2019 general election, as its plans to ensure that card readers did not malfunction as in the case of the 2015 elections.

Prof Mahmud Yakub, the INEC Chairman disclosed this yesterday, stressing that the commission has would give solid training to its staff in handling the device.



INEC also revealed that more ad-hoc staff would be deployed both for general and specific needs across different polling units in the country.

Speaking on security, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, divulged that security would be at top gear in all police commands across the country, including governorship election coming up in Anambra in November 2017.

“Elections are great challange to the Police but our men will be fully mobilized from not less 15 units across the country to handle the election”, Idris noted while commenting on Anambra election.



This came as he directed state commissioners of Police to immediately assess the deployment of police personnel attached to very important persons (VIPs) with a view to withdrawing those deployed illegally.
